BC PNP Tech Pilot

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Tech Pilot allows qualified individuals in the tech sector to settle permanently in the province. The BC PNP Tech Pilot program intends to meet the growing demand for tech professionals in the province.  Skilled workers and international graduates who have received a valid job offer in one of the eligible occupations can apply for the PNP program.

Eligibility Criteria

If an applicant meets the criteria listed below, they are eligible to apply for the BC PNP Tech Pilot program.

Eligible Occupation

Applicants who want to apply for the pilot program must have related experience in one of the 29 eligible occupations for the BC PNP Tech program.

Job Offer Requirement

To qualify for the BC PNP Tech Pilot program, an applicant must receive a job offer from an eligible employer in the province for a full-time position.

Applicants must receive a job offer for a minimum of one year to qualify for the program. If an applicant is already working for the employer that makes the job offer, at least 120 days should be remaining when applying for the program.

Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS)

BC PNP Tech Pilot aligns itself with the Skills Immigration pathway of permanent residency (PR) for which Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) is used.

Skills Immigration has five different categories – skilled worker, international graduate, international post-graduate, healthcare professionals, and entry-level, semi-skilled worker. Out of these, two categories, i.e. skilled worker and international graduate, are applicable to apply for the BC PNP Tech Pilot.

Direct Work Experience

Individuals who want to apply for the BC PNP program must show relevant industry experience. The applicant’s work experience should directly relate to the job offer. Fresh international graduates with no work experience are not eligible for the program.

Applicants will receive additional points if they have resided in Canada for at least one year before applying for the BC PNP program.

Education

The education credentials of the applicant should also relate to the tech position. BC PNP Tech sector positions generally require post-secondary education. The degree must be directly related to the profession. Contact a Canadian immigration consultant to know about the educational requirement for your position.

Candidates will receive additional points for post-secondary education in Canada, and particularly in British Columbia. Moreover, there are additional points if the candidates have got educational assessment from a qualified institute. Individuals with Industry Training Authority British Columbia (ITAB) certification also get additional points.

Language Competency

The applicant should demonstrate suitable language proficiency in English or French. A high score in the language proficiency test will result in maximum marks.

Economic Factors

Economic factors constitute the bulk of the points for the BC PNP Tech Pilot program. These include factors related to the job offer, including annual wage, skill levels, and the regional district of the job offer.

A job offer with a higher annual salary will result in more marks. Moreover, jobs that require higher skills receive more points.

Candidates with a job offer in certain districts receive higher points.  There are also additional points if the candidate is presently working with the organization that has made the job offer. Also, candidates receive high marks if the occupation is in the list of high demand occupations for BC or the occupation is among top management position.

 Application Process

British Columbia (BC) PNP Tech Pilot
Candidates who meet all the requirements of the BC PNP Tech program receive an invitation to submit a complete application. Processing time for most applicants is less than 2 to 3 months from the date of submission.

Candidates who get the nomination through the BC PNP Tech Pilot will receive a work permit support letter. The individuals can apply for a temporary work permit and Canadian permanent residency. The work permit allows nominated individuals to work as the permanent residence application is in process with the government.

Fast Track Canadian Immigration

The BC PNP Tech Pilot offers an expedited Canadian immigration pathway. Tech applicants get priority when processing Canadian immigration applications. The government offers weekly invitations to the applicants that fast track the immigration process.
